Two of the henchmen try to use their energy-draining wire trap on Gohan, but they prove to be useless. This visit is enough to push Gohan over the edge and he uses his Super Saiyan 2 form. In the few fleeting moments he has, Goku tells his son to believe in himself because he has incredible power that has yet to tap in to. Before Bojack is able to unleash the final blow, Goku decides that he has had enough and uses Instant Transmission to teleport to Gohan and save him (despite being dead). He seems to be fighting a losing battle, however, as he simply can’t muster enough strength to defeat Bojack and his subordinates. Goku nervously watches the fight from King Kai’s planet and tries to cheer Gohan on as much as he can. However, like all of the fighters before him, he is easily outclassed by Bojack.ĭespite everyone being battered and bruised, the fight continues on. Vegeta then makes his appearance, frees Trunks, and launches an attack of his own. Trunks dashes toward Bojack, but gets caught in a trap that saps all of his energy. Piccolo steps into to save Gohan while Trunks attempts to challenge Bojack once again. After seeing his friends hurt, Gohan transforms into a Super Saiyan, though he is still not strong enough to defeat all of the fighters. Meanwhile, Gohan is led toward Krillin and Trunks’ location, where he meets the main antagonist, Bojack. Vegeta begins to sense the energies of the fighters and believes that something has gone wrong. Krillin is quickly defeated, while Trunks is able to kill one of the enemies after turning into a Super Saiyan. Each of the remaining Z Fighters attempts to take down the strange enemies to varying levels of success. The fighters quickly learn that something isn’t right, as the fighters are using lethal force in a tournament setting. Despite this, everyone is moved to a new arena with a variety of environments. The tournament staff is surprised, however, as the fighters that appear are not the people they had hired. The final round has Gohan, Trunks, Krillin, and another fighter fight against opponents that are supposed to be from all over the galaxy, but are in reality pupils of Mr. Meanwhile, Piccolo simply forfeits his match against Krillin because he simply doesn’t see Krillin as a worthy opponent. Although Trunks and Tien are more or less on equal ground at the beginning of their match, Trunks turns into a Super Saiyan and quickly claims victory. The semi-final round has Trunks against Tien and Krillin against Piccolo. He says that he has a stomach ache and excuses himself.
Satan gets increasingly worried about who his opponent will be. Everyone but Yamcha advance to the next round and Mr. Many of the Z Fighters enter the competition, including Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, Yamcha, Future Trunks, and Tien. The film begins with a martial arts tournament called the Intergalactic Tournament, where 200 of the top fighters in the “galaxy” compete for a cash prize and a chance to fight Mr. Overall, the film earned 2.23 billion yen in the box office after its release.
The film was directed by Yoshihiro Ueda, produced by both Chiaki Imada and Yoshio Anzai, written by Takao Koyama, and has music composed by Shunsuke Kikuchi. Bojack Unbound is the final film to feature Kohei Miyauchi as Master Roshi, as he later passed away around two years after its release. It debuted on July 10th, 1993 at the Toei Anime Film Fair.
